Farcaster app signups going drop from $3 to $1 later today. 

This change is thanks to the Storage Redenomination FIP, which makes the cost of each storage unit 20c. Clients like Base and Zapper could choose to sign up users for as little as 20c. 

When you sign up on the Farcaster app today, we will charge $1 and give you 3 units of storage (which is now 60c). The other 40c goes to the app store tax for the in-app payment. 

Another important change is that we are extended the duration of all storage units for another year. You do not need to renew storage. We will continue doing every year as long as Snapchain can keep up with traffic. If at any point Snapchain is unable to, we will go back to storage expiring yearly.

This is a great update! Lower costs and longer-lasting storage make onboarding much more user-friendly. The yearly renewal removal is huge for peace of mind. Excited to see how Snapchain handles the growing demand — this feels like a big step forward for scaling the network sustainably.
