I feel like the algorithm plays a huge role in it, but yeah, there is definitely a lot of gatekeeping that goes on there as well.

it's both imo. Ive just seen a ton of mfs find success then switch up. v tragic. and everyone is bitter bc like.. why would they help someone just to be left in the dirt again. at least thats how i feel about it. hard not to be cynical sometimes but i also got MH probz lol

No, it's definitely true. Some people find success and then immediately get a huge head and refuse to help others, all while preaching about "building" and "community." They are too worried about protecting their own success to worry about the people who helped them gain it.
