This fish survived multiple mass extinction events, and scientists discovered it was still alive and swimming in 1938. It is the only living being alive with certain sensory/predatory adaptations and is genuinely SO COOL. Thanks @kelborhal78 Keep those /science posts coming everyone; Iโ€™m loving them so far!! Newt

It's nice we still have old animals like this that haven't gone into extinction. Though would you say it's because they're usually inaccessible?

Oh gosh darn it I didnโ€™t include that fact๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ my guess is that the temperatures in the deep ocean and much more stable, and they arenโ€™t as impacted by having less light. Perhaps they are hardier and have adaptations to have less oxygen as well. There arenโ€™t the physical disturbances as much
