My kid decided to teach herself 6th grade math, english, and science this summer to ensure her continued dominance next year in school. She plans to use a $10 workbook/study guide. 

“If I have time I’ll do 7th grade too.”

We live in the same absurdity simulator. Hi!

My work ethic varied from the lazy guy who showed up unprepared but knows the answers to taking on all AP/Honors classes. 

But eventually all gifted kids burn out, some more spectacularly than others. There just isn’t much to excel in after school ends unless you have capital or good connections.

Sounds like something crypto could play a part in.

I wish there was just a big open lab somewhere that we could all use the equipment and pursue academic interests in depth, instead of suddenly graduating and doing mindless tasks a well trained monkey could perform for years to gain irrelevant experience for the sake of a resume.
