In the Symbiotic ecosystem, Resolvers are the enforcement and arbitration mechanism. Their primary job is to manage the slashing process. Symbiotic delegates this crucial and complex logic to Resolvers. A Resolver is essentially an on-chain or off-chain entity (or a combination) that has the authority to tell Symbiotic's core contracts: This operator misbehaved according to the rules of the service they were securing. You must slash their collateral.

Symbiotic Finance is built on a modular architecture composed of several key components. Components such as -> Collateral: These are the staked assets that are restaked to provide security. A key feature of SymbioticFi is its multi-asset support. Meaning it is not limited to a single native token and can accommodate a wide range of digital assets. -> Vaults: These are smart contracts that manage the deposited collateral. They act as the delegation and restaking management layer. Handling accounting, delegation strategies, and the distribution of rewards.

-> Operators: These are the entities or individuals who run the software required to validate transactions and perform other essential functions for the secured protocols. Stakers delegate their collateral to these operators. -> Resolvers: These are entities responsible for impartially resolving slashing events. If an operator misbehaves, the resolver mechanism ensures that the penalty is fair and transparently executed. This modular design provides a high degree of flexibility. Allowing networks to customize their security parameters, including the types of collateral they accept, the operators they work with, and their specific slashing conditions.

The protocol's foundational principle is shared security. Instead of each network operating in a silo, they can tap into a common pool of staked assets, thereby inheriting the economic security of a much larger and more established ecosystem. This is made possible through restaking, where users who have already staked assets (such as ETH or other ERC-20 tokens) can opt-in to have those assets simultaneously secure other protocols. In return for taking on this additional validation work and risk, restakers are compensated with additional rewards from the protocols they help secure. Learn more at https://symbiotic.fi/
