This photograph is straight out of a Snow Queen fairy tale. At certain times of the year, an unusual phenomenon can be observed on the rivers of the Kaliningrad region: ice "flowers" bloom on the thin surface of the ice in a matter of seconds. These "flowers" are whimsical shapes, reminiscent of white flower petals with sharp edges. Each petal is a thin sheet of ice with veins, just like a real leaf. In reality, this unusual formation is caused by water crystals exposed to subzero temperatures.
