Telomeres are protective DNA structures at the ends of chromosomes. They shorten with each division, a marker of cellular aging. Telomere shortening occurs naturally with age. There are healthy foods that lengthen telomeres, including bananas (they protect our heart and blood vessels due to their high potassium content), raspberries (which support cell division), oranges and other citrus fruits, as well as pomegranates and kiwis (they are rich in vitamin C).
