Perplexity’s quality feels like it’s waning. You feel it too? Maybe it’s the novelty wearing off, or the noticeable expansion of garbage AI content it recycles, or that the cookie jar got shut when they were called out for scraping paywalled content… but something has changed. Increasingly finding myself back on Google or going straight to ChatGPT to ask o1 for assistance. Not sure their desktop app announcement can make enough of a difference.

Tbh I still use it daily and still really like it for the most part. But I’ve noticed certain types of queries and tasks returning less valuable info and surfacing what is clearly bot-generated content over other quality data sources. Feels like you have to use ‘Pro’ to get the real value of Perplexity (not surprising).
