What about the actual guitarrist for Deep Purple, the irish Simon McBride. Since I listened to his debut album, I've been following him (I even booked him for a festival). A first class guitar player.

First class indeed.  Just off his tone I was thinking Jeff Healy - my mind went to his cover of While My Guitar - not "exactly" blues but still - epic solo ;-p
