Is there value in (intentionally) short term relationships?

Lessons abound for sure lol. I do think it can be warranted when it is as you say, addressing needs for both.

When it adresses a need for both sides, why not? But that would be intentional. 
When it's unintentional, there's always the lesson learned.

Hm well.. long-term relationships provide a strong foundation of support and growth together, though they may demand compromise to sustain the fun🤷‍♀️

If it were the reverse, what would you say the +\- trade offs are of long-term relationships?

Short-term relationships can be valuable for companionship and self-discovery, but they may lack the depth and commitment.

People determine value based on it; in psychology, many times they believe that in the end, a long-term relationship is what everybody needs, but it is not absolute. Fun fact: there are new studies that sometimes show the opposite results! For some people, having multiple relationships at once provides the same level of satisfying for others with 1 partner for example
