I’m too trusting to stomach some of these interactions that I can’t discern as sincere or fake.

Why cc me instead of just tag me in the original cast?

Why say something in such a way that contradicts how you’re actually showing up in this space?

To think that the way I’m showing up to others here on FC, might be impacted because I’m too openly trusting of the ‘people’ who engage with me…

To have to think that if I reply, I’m gambling my own reputation & trust value with others because I’m sincerely giving this user a chance by engaging back with them, despite being uncertain as to whether or not they are real or just spam.

Not to mention the decision fatigue & the minutes of added profile scrolling just in an attempt to verify the humanity of the user you’re seeking to engage with…

It certainly gets exhausting overtime.

I know this isn’t & won’t ever be exclusively an FC problem, but it IS an FC problem all the same.

The fact that this discernment is left up to us as users, and the fact that our participation with the rest of the engaged class may depend on our ability to process this for ourselves, doesn’t feel good.

One may not realize how this systemically builds in a filter of distrust in engagement overall.

It pains me that I come on here & have started to share reflections such as these, however this is indeed the byproduct of the current paradigm. I am but one mirror to this entire endeavor, and I’m not the only one seeing this or feeling this way.
