thought dump in lieu of a journal: - if a grocery story is playing mt joy or khruangbin, your wallet is cooked - the rise of clipping farms and AI brainrot will give rise to a new class of human curators (aka people with taste that other people trust for their information diet; we already see this for a) playlists for music and b) newsletters for long-form text content) - “until death, all defeat is psychological” - one of the most incredible features of social media is how it lets us see that everyone’s life is so different and i don’t think we appreciate the beauty of that enough - “loneliness in late adulthood is deadlier than smoking. indeed, once you’re over 65, you’re better off smoking, drinking, and overeating with your friends than you are sitting at home alone.” - as we get older, friendships ebb and flow and relationships don’t always work out. that’s life, but what i find myself missing most (almost viscerally) are the shared routines: morning coffee, sunday dinners, etc.

While there I drove our transformation from a four asset company (BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC) to the infinite asset backend Coinbase has now. I also championed and led the USDC launch at Coinbase, taking it from $0 to $1. And worked closely with @dwr.eth, who has been a friend for 10+ years. So, if you want to build real crypto products — not gambling, not vaporware — come work with us. I think Farcaster is exceptionally underrated as a protocol and want to use it as the backbone for a new kind of crypto-first school. To motivate: imagine if every problem you solved in college doubled as a portfolio piece — as a *proof-of-learning* NFT added to your public ENS. Aya first shared the idea of transitioning from ED of @ethereumfndn to President a year ago. She has accomplished much in her seven years as executive director of the EF. As I see it, the role of an ED is to create an environment where others can shine and do their best work, and so every success of the EF - the steady execution of Ethereum hard forks, client interop workshops, Devcon, Ethereum's culture and steadfast commitment to its mission and values, and more - is in part a result of Aya's stewardship. @AyaMiyagotchi will continue supporting the EF in many of the same ways in her new role.
