When people say they hate prediction markets, I'm going to show them this Google commercial where the parents lost the kids stuffed animal, and they're literally using Gemini to lie to their child, saying the toy is "on vacation". Theres a very subtle thing where we are basically normalizing lying to people using AI, and while it's funny at the family level, the point is there are dozens of governments that will use the technology for evil. Prediction markets with anonymous data OSINT researchers being paid by speculator traders on public blockchains are just one of many solutions that people will need to differentiate lies from truth. The speculators fund people who are actually knowledgeable to source and reveal information, and I actually do believe the general technology is a public good despite the rhetoric that today it's just used for sports gambling.
