EIP-7702 will catapult smart contract accounts on Ethereum and L2s, and I’m excited to see it in action. However it will just be a step towards true AA, since 7702 still requires a seed phrase, limited account recovery and other EOA limitations. The drawback of using ERC-4337 is the increased gas cost, but in L2s, the increase is mostly negligible.

Web3 onboarding needs to change. Confusing login flows are driving users away. The tools to simplify UX already exist: social logins, chain abstraction, passkeys, session keys and more. Seamless onboarding should be the standard for every Web3 app and game.

The future of web3 is chain abstraction. Users won’t need to switch networks or even know what chain they’re on. dApps and protocols will seamlessly connect all smart contracts and assets across chains. A frictionless, interoperable future is closer than we think.
