One of the rarest animals in the world that lives in Iran is the Asiatic cheetah (or Iranian cheetah). Once widespread across vast parts of Asia, this species is now found only in parts of Iran. It is estimated that fewer than 20 individuals remain in the wild in Iran. The Asiatic cheetah is critically endangered due to habitat destruction, poaching, and a lack of prey. Efforts are underway to protect this rare species, such as captive breeding programs and habitat conservation projects.
