The hardest part of designing for Truflation wasn’t visual polish. It was a cognitive load.
12+ inflation categories, daily updates, comparison toggles...
People could see data. But not make decisions.
So I designed a system:
- Designed granular breakdowns and progressive disclosure to show data in dept per category (e.g., food, housing, transportation) without overwhelming on upfront.
- Color-coded inflation categories for instant scanning.
- A shared design language across every chart.
- Dynamic charts that let users compare timeframes, subcategories, and trends.
- Responsive components for widgets, calculators, and future tools.
- Contrast + spacing tuned for better readability on all screen sizes
It made Truflation feel less like a spreadsheet, and more like a decision tool.
And most importantly, it gave us a system we could build on across data of different countries, currencies, and use cases. 1 reply
