You know that feeling when something bad almost happens but somehow everything turns out fine? Instead of just being relieved and grateful, I sometimes get stuck thinking about how bad it could have been. I start imagining all the worst-case scenarios even though nothing actually went wrong and end up stressing myself out over something that didn’t even happen. Is it just me, or does anyone else do this too?

first step is to recognize it, don’t drive looking through the rearview mirror, keep your eyes ahead.

i adopted a mantra a long time ago: there’s no such thing as ā€œshould haveā€ or ā€œcould haveā€

i just realize that ā€œi should haveā€ or ā€œi could haveā€ is just magical thinking that has no relevance to where i am now and headed forward in time. those statements have no value, i cannot go back and rerun the experiment, so i can just stop obsessing on them.
