Am I the only one who has a lot of hesitation about giving AI full access to my GitHub?

Maker / Traveler / sold fintech company now working on AI

Talks about crypto and coffee. Building onchain algo trading - check out my channels /algo-trading and /python

I think I was talking more like Claude code, chatGPT, etc who don’t have access so far. Although maybe ChatGPT does cause they’re partnered with Microsoft???

I think just enabling writes on any repos is a potential for a lot of issues possibly

Github already has full access to your Gthub.

Microsoft already has full access to your Github if you use Actions.

Using e.g. Github Copilot thus changes little, because we are already screwed.

Use a private fork and only give access to that repo.

I think any write permissions is what has me shook 

Imagining something auto merging PRs or auto writing to master….

I know it’s not supposed to do any of that but it’s so new just has me wanting to be cautious

if its read access, I will go with any public repositories. since without permission, they will steal it anyway.

for write permission, it should be a specific repository

per repo access makes sense. but whole account/org is sketchy

always back out of the auth flow when apps request full access

this sentence reads hilariously dirty to somone without knowledge of github lol
