I can finally talk about my crazy plan to smuggle my boyfriend + his family across the Israel border to Jordan this week ‼️ To give context, in the last week I have 10+ friends evacuated from their homes due to direct missile strikes from Iran. None of my friends have been injured tg 🙏🏻 but there have been several deaths in their buildings 💔 The situation was bad. I was stressed af and my French-Israeli boyfriend was stuck in Tel Aviv. So I hatched a mission impossible plan to break him out 🕵🏼‍♀️ I found the contact of a Jordanian guide who I trust and started planning. My boyfriend crossed the Jordan border with his parents on Friday. They went to their hotel and prepared for their flight Saturday evening. On Saturday, they went to the airport and boarded their flight from Amman to Riyadh (not my choice of route because Israelis can’t enter Saudi Arabia but there weren’t many options). From Riyadh the plan was to fly to Paris. About an hour into my boyfriend’s flight he sends me a text that he was rerouted to Al-Jouf airport, a Saudi domestic airport 900 km from Riyadh. The airline never told them why they had an emergency landing, so I’m left to speculate. I asked if it was a Boeing plane but it was an airbus so I rule that out 😂 At this point, I’m freaking out - maybe I’ve watched one too many episodes of Tehran (for which this is the plot of one of them). I tell him and his parents to hide their Israeli documents. They do. Half an hour goes by and I don’t hear from him. Again, freaked out. Finally he answers and tells me they are in the transit hall waiting because they don’t want to process their passports. At this point, time is going by and we are worried he will miss his connection in Riyadh. Finally the plane is “fixed” or whatever (they still don’t know what happened), and they get back on and fly to Riyadh. They barely make their connection but they get on it and landed in Paris this AM. So ultimately they took: Taxi -> Israel border -> bus -> Jordan border -> bus to airport -> taxi to hotel -> taxi to airport -> plane to Al-Jouf -> plane to Riyadh -> plane to Paris -> taxi to hotel 🚕🚌✈️
