PSA: Let’s please move away from saying “female lawyers,” or “females in the workplace” or “female journalist”. Instead say “women lawyers,” or “women in the workplace” or just “she is a journalist” 1) “female” reduces people to biology and feels clinical 2) not all women are biologically female 3) we don’t talk about “male” lawyers 4) language shapes respect— “women” acknowledges gender and humanity, not just anatomy

I hear what you’re saying and respect the intent. I’d argue we should take it one step further and remove any gender qualifier from the discourse completely. Lawyer is inherently a non-binary term. Representation matters, it’s true; but is there a way to move forward in a new way? A way in which we just move past these labels altogether?
