Do people ever ask you to work on dials or cases to clean them up?

We don’t do any dial restoration where I work currently. Most workshops send them off to specialists. We can do basic polishing here for cases but not something we generally do.

Always curious about how the general public goes about that. Generally in watch collecting circles, polishing and dial restorations are a no-no, but I see people kind of like having it done anyway

Ye old pieces you want as close to original as possible. Some people just want their watch looking as fresh as they can which is fair too. It all depends on what you are personally into. I have had watches polished before selling so they look in amazing condition but while I own the watch I won’t get any polished done, or if I was selling something older I would refrain from getting it polished.
