An opensource movement, yes that's right. You guys must check that: https://openmovement.org Unfortunately the crowdfunding was not successfully funded, but the 3d of the movement is available to download in their website.

I wasn’t aware of this. I’ll have to read up about it tomorrow If this brings down the costs of Swiss movements, I’m all for it, especially for microbrands One of my biggest gripes about some of these luxury Swiss watch brands is the movements. I think it’s fine for a Tissot or that category, but I can’t justify spending like $10K+ on a watch that uses the same movement as a $500 watch. Maybe there’s something to be said about the finishing of the $10K watch, but still

Tissot is part of the biggest conglomerate in the watch industry, so it’s something a part. But at lot of brands overprice their watches using the same movements as some Microbrands, and they should not. So it’s up to buyers make a due diligence and select what is better for them!
