The most successful part of farcaster has been channels. Then they got dropped. Why? No good answer.

Right. For some users they really work. But for most they don’t.

They still exist. They don’t drive growth or retention for most people.m, so lower priority.

That sucks. They have a lot of value to me and I like how the conversations are organized here. Hopefully that is recognized again.

Dev has done nothing with them and they have been dropped from the priority list. According to the protocol, they don’t serve a purpose.

I'm wondering what you're expecting them to focus on regarding channels. Doesn't seem like they got dropped, just enhancing them got deprioritized. I don't see it holding anyone back from making good use of channels.
