PSA: Why is UK political discussion currently centred on a bin? Entering an election to become an MP is cheap. You pay a £500 deposit which you lose if you get less than 5% of the vote. Because of this, we have a long history of 'novelty' candidates. The current best known of those is 'Count Binface'. Read about him at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Count_Binface Nigel Farage has stepped down as an MP and is standing for re-election in attempt to distract attention from/clear his name of (depending on your affiliation) the accusations of corruption he faces. All the major parties have declined to field a candidate - leaving the election currently between Farage and Binface only.
