farcaster was hub to high value conversations before airdrops / rewards showed up 

definitely, you need numbers to stay relevant as a social layer but then it depends what kind of audience you’re targeting 

if you want to entertain high value content, focus & optimise for that

if you want numbers, channel rewards, gamification from day 1

The truth is no social platform will thrive now without a reward mechanism either for content creators or the users and high valued contents will not increase the DAU of the app... there's a reason why memecoins are getting more capital inflow than "high value" projects...

The reason I brought in memecoins is to state that no social platform will do well with high value contents... folks just want to have fun.

i don’t think meme coins is a good comparable but i agree with what you’re saying. 

i feel the same about social platforms, but then how are we cultivating high signal / value? is it then just reward farming. the better do quests like layer3.
