What other web2 networks would benefit from a product led protocol A'la Farcaster

by definition aren't they all product led protocols?

But if they never open up the protocol or rug it like Twitter did, aren't they just products?

What's your incentive to create a protocol? Is it just ideological? 

I was of the belief that the protocol hardens the network effect overtime 

And if this turns out to be true for Farcaster it could be true for other categories

sure, but the point is the web2 networks always have a product. and outside of ideological belief, not much incentive to create a protocol
