I recall a conversation at a party where each person opened to share their own opinion by saying how they agreed or disagreed with whomever spoke immediately before them; it was a weird robotic exchange of ideas. … I figured they’d all just been to the same media coach or something, and I never forgotten how that entry felt—sanitized like a debate, not like a natural conversation at a party at all. I still hear it happen from time to time, and I just turn away. I prefer to be invited into someone else’s mind rather than educated on how they think. Seduction > Reduction.
