I do not believe that making a lot of art or making a lot of different art can dilute my brand as an artist. Everything I make, I’m proud of—versatility is a feature not a bug. However what I can do is dilute my energies by trying to be everywhere doing everything.
It wouldn’t be the second time I achieved something, and then found myself underwhelmed by the results.
It’s a different life we lead when what we do is intentional. When we are no longer looking for opportunities created by other people—rather creating the opportunities according to the lifestyle we want to lead ourselves.
Nothing worse than going out of your way to try to be a part of another person’s thingy and they don’t choose you but you forfeited something else that you could’ve had in an attempt to be a part of their event—that’s when the wisdom of ‘intentionality’ gets crystal clear and that ‘rejection’ starts to feel very different.
