You should always call people what they introduced themselves as. I’m an adult, not your pet. I have a name that I use and I don’t take kindly to people who have never really known me just renaming me. It’s incredibly disrespectful and it never evokes in me the affinity that people expect - calling me some nickname YOU LIKE isn’t how to make a good impression. Everybody doesn’t like their name shortened and it’s not appropriate to do that to someone you’ve just met, or at all. If you feel lazy, don’t say my name at all. Idk. But I don’t play about misnomers. A nickname is an honor that comes with knowing a person. You don’t get to just rename a person. They have a whole life that you know nothing about - respect the name that’s presented to you. Don’t try to change another person’s address.
