here is designer Nelson Pass in the late 70s. he founded Threshold in 1974 after graduating from UC Davis and went on to found Pass Labs in 1991, one of the most influential companies in high-end audio.

Pass Labs popularized pure class A amplifier designs like the First Watt which delivered both musicality and transparency in equal measure. over 30 years later, they continue to make amplifiers, preamplifiers, and phono stages and release new models on a regular basis.
