gonna start a home renovation company that targets millennial renters with tons of cash but still trapped in shitty places because the housing market to buy is so unhinged

Do you know about Alexandra Gater? She was laid off from her job in 2018 as the home editor of a women's magazine - just when she was about to kick off YouTube video content for them. She took the video team (also laid off) and started doing her own thing, putting her home renovation videos on YouTube and specifically doing it for renters only. Now she charges $1,500 just for a virtual consult and is totally booked out. I'm surprised she's not already at 1 mil followers on YouTube, but she's getting there.

ahhhh yes, I am vaguely familiar but haven’t spent a lot of time watching. what an incredible story. I have wondered lately if interior design is actually quite AI resistant as a profession. it’s more instinctual and vibey than technical or analytical, requires taste and people skills, subtle spatial sensibilities and visual literacy, etc.

I was looking at a bench on Pinterest, which led me to the first video I ever watched of her insane studio apartment makeovers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8iVKiWX5_A I find ChatGPT is pretty impressive for generating design recommendations based on best practices, but what's missing is the next level as you say - creativity and taste. You can design a nice interior with AI but it won't be striking (yet).
