kept imagining that he was once a little baby, with a loving mother and father. odds are he was loved as human nature encodes love towards children.

where are they? what happened? how do u get here?

Undiagnosed/untreated mental health issues, unaddressed traumas, drugs. I do a lot of volunteering with this population and these are the common issues.

It’s very sad, I might add for the reasons you noted. So much lost potential.

Often it’s the parents’ traumas/issues that get passed on, either indirectly or directly. I try to teach my kids not to be judgmental and remind them of how fortunate they truly are to have stable and loving adults in their lives.

my pondering is not on the cause of the homelessness, but more on the reason for the broken innate bond with parents.

Very often, a common reason why people end up in these circumstances is precisely because they don't have the loving support of family and friends. That and trauma.
