Treat them with some basic respect and kindness. Pay them fairly, don't overwork them, and show some appreciation for their hard work. It's not that hard, and it'll make for a much nicer working environment.

This is amazing. Showing some respect to the cleaner is the only way I know. 
If only people understood the power in their hands, they'll definitely do better too. This people have access to your home or office for God's sake.
