‘sleep’ is the most difficult artwork i have ever made technically, i’ve produced many very challenging pieces, but the struggle with this one was more about the circumstances around its creation 2025 was one of the most brutal years of my life—a gruelling time of deep transformation and intense obstacles… immense pain and crushing fatigue. massive expenses and little income. near-constant nightmares for months on end. wild physical symptoms that kept me barely functional despite utilizing every lifestyle shift and health hack imaginable it was a year of thawing. of feeling things i spent decades avoiding. of giving myself the time and resources i needed to deeply grieve and overcome traumas that have been terrorizing me mentally and physically for my whole life. of choosing my wellbeing over everything else. of choosing a better future instead of continued decline i’m not suddenly all perfect and healed, but i’ve finally made enough progress to shift much of my focus back onto other things, and it’s a massive relief there is at last a sense of forward motion—simple things that were impossible have become options again. i can’t explain how good it feels here’s to embracing the fallow seasons required to produce and grow. here’s to deep rest. here’s to having the courage to face the darkness so it can be left behind please note that the manifold preview is highly compressed. a less compressed loop can be viewed on opensea, and the original is on arweave — https://opensea.io/item/ethereum/0xd331b9e885364e623f5c567075527f278d589f6b/21 how to collect: 1. own wake — https://opensea.io/item/ethereum/0x48dacfb883a452af47404650f7538e6e0893cc56/5 2. burn wake — https://manifold.xyz/@marlo/id/4099457264 wake is my largest edition, and this gives collectors a chance to burn tokens for a more exclusive version that is minted on my own contract. currently set to 44 mints max, this number may be reduced further sleep — still from a 7 second loop animation. 2025. based on ‘wake’, an animation made while recovering from covid in west virginia in 2022
