Nexus Mutual and OpenCover rolled out the Base DeFi Pass so retail users can buy tailored smart contract cover directly on Base. This product makes purchasing onchain insurance feel like a native step in onboarding and lowers the barrier for builders and users to transfer operational risk into an auditable cover product. 
If you handle user funds or launch a token, treat cover as part of your product spec not an afterthought. publish which events are covered, keep treasury and exposure limits transparent, and run regular claim drills with your finance team so cover actually reduces operational surprises instead of becoming a checkbox.
