Donald Trump has twice indicated that Powell may step down as head of the Fed. First, he wrote about it on his social network Truth Social, and then said it during a live broadcast. "Jerome Powell would step down as head of the Fed if I asked him to. I don't think Powell is doing his job," the president said. "The interest rate needs to be lowered now." Earlier, the head of the Fed indicated that the US central bank is taking a wait-and-see approach.
