but for some reason they're calling it frites à la québécoise instead... any idea why? 🍟⚜️

I don't know the reason. But I often recall a story my friend told me, a Canadian who was an exchange student in France during the Quebec "separation referendum" campaign, which garnered media attention in France. But the French people in France could not understand the Quebecois French being spoken, and so subtitles were required so that French viewers could understand what was being said. I have no idea how common the word "poutine" is in France, but maybe it's more of the same.

for sure, could be a case where it's just not that familiar of a word!

but any time i've heard people here make fun of quebecois, it's usually some sort of stereotype on word choices, accents and or poutine so i thought it'd be somewhat of a known thing to many? 🤣
