Pop Mart is basically NFTs in real life. Both rely on the same logic: uniqueness, scarcity, and collectibility. Pop Mart makes limited-edition toys; NFTs use code to create one-of-a-kind digital assets. NFTs started before 2017 with digital collectibles on Bitcoin. They exploded in 2021 on Ethereum with projects like CryptoPunks and Bored Apes—not because of the art, but because of identity, community, and belief. Pop Mart uses physical lines and boxes; NFTs use bids and wallets. But both tap into the same human instinct: the desire for rare things and social belonging. The NFT hype has cooled, but the logic isn’t dead. The next wave may be time, data, or memory. Just don’t be the last one holding the bag.
