lots of people asking this privately but no one asking publicly

why is everyone so angry we don’t have any crypto apps

and why did we abandon integrating or transferring existing apps to be onchain

why the obsession with net new apps

[i have my own answer but steelmanning is good thought experiment for us all]

The way I’ve always approached this topic is to not differentiate “crypto app”. There is only “app”, and if crypto infrastructure or features make it 10x better, then it will be worth the effort. There is a space for net new, 100% “crypto app”, but those have been less interesting to me. 

I like to think of crypto as a technology. Cloud computing was a new technology that 1000x’d everything. Same with AI. But you don’t say “AI app”. It’s a product that uses AI. So maybe the solution is to switch our mental model and shift our focus to solving problems in better ways where crypto just happens to be part of solution.
