Genuine question about Zoran Mamdani who is currently running for mayor Can someone explain how a rent freeze creates long-term value? Isn’t it essentially just price capping—which usually fails under normal market dynamics? Trying to understand the logic here, still can't vote but care to understand. What am I missing?

I know Zohran personally and while I believe he’s well intentioned, he’s in the wrong about rent freezes (as many leftists are). If landlords can’t increase rents, they have no incentive to maintain existing properties or create new ones. Supply go down. Price go up. Middle class is fucked.
