Palmer Luckey first became interested in virtual reality games at the age of 15. As a teenager, he built his own virtual reality headset, the PR1. This happened when he was 17. It was the first headset ever created that could trick the brain into thinking that he was in a different world. It was the first prototype of Achilles virtual reality, which eventually became a huge business. At the age of 21, he sold Achilles to Facebook for $2 billion. In 2017, Luckey left Achilles and Facebook in a bizarre move to found his own defense technology startup.
