Is this the user’s fault or the platform’s fault? Excellent question by @ted. Should be asked in many situations, not just this one. Because sometimes it’s user error, sometimes it’s platform error, and sometimes it’s both.

If I may briefly ramble... We presume apps are made for users. Any engineering enterprise must first prepare the environment and remove all complexities that skew desired outcomes and make difficulties or danger to the user. This often isn't enough and we structurally place implements that attempt to prevent incorrect usage. Sometimes this still isn't enough and we must include a pedagogic element in the design so that every user knows what they are doing. I not familiar with the discussion you're having so excuse me if this wasn't helpful to anyone. What I'm saying is we must design with the understanding that the user will screw up everything but... In general, is the user not the last participant to blame for that very same reason?
