80-90% of semantic debates in Ethereum happen land because we never bothered to read Eliezer Yudkowsky's A Human's Guide To Words sequence (https://www.readthesequences.com/A-Humans-Guide-To-Words-Sequence). If people can argue whether a tree falling in the forest makes a sound (because "sound" means different things to the debaters), it's easy to see why we'll spend time arguing over definitions ad infinitum.

It promised unsustainable returns on investments, claiming to use a trading bot and lending platform to generate profits. The scheme relied on recruiting new investors to pay earlier investors, with no actual revenue generation. BitConnect's coin $BCC was listed on exchanges, and its price surged, enticing more investors. However, the project's legitimacy was questioned, and exchanges delisted BCC. The website was shut down, and the founders disappeared with the funds

9/ WOTOKEN WoToken, a Chinese crypto trading platform, promised investors high returns through algorithmic trading bots and referrals but turned out to be a Ponzi scheme. By May 2020, it had defrauded 715,429 people of $1.1 billion (7.8 billion yuan) in cryptocurrencies, China's second-largest crypto fraud. The Co-founders Gao Yudong and Tian Yongbo, previously convicted of financial crimes, hid their history from investors. Four men, including the co-founders received prison sentences (2.5-8.8 years). However, only $63.6 million of the stolen funds were recovered, leaving victims with significant losses.

The value of the stolen coins has since surged, estimating losses at nearly $11 billion. The founder Chen Bo and their accomplices fled to Cambodia but were later arrested by the Chinese authorities in June 2020. Chen Bo and 15 others received prison sentences (2-11 years) and fines ($100,000-$1 million), ending one of China's largest crypto fraud cases.

In Sept. 2022, Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of Thodex, was finally arrested in Vlorë, Albania. Notably, chain analysis (a blockchain analysis firm) revealed that Thodex was responsible for a staggering 90% of all rug pull losses in 2021, making it the largest fraudulent exchange of that year.
