I suspect a lot of people here will read this and think “web3 solves this.” But the problem isn’t one of decentralization or centralization. It’s one of incentives and convenience. A demand for convenience has shifted incentives for products to be subscription based.

Now: in a world where I have to pay for rent for everything- it’d be nice to own the digital land I plow on once again.

True. Even when I "purchase" movie on Amazon, if I cancel my subscription I can no longer access the movie. Yes, this stings. I see my dusty DVDs and VHS cassettes with much nostalgia. I may head to the antique store this weekend for a player. 😎💜
