Japanese subway UX is pretty god-tier.
- hundreds of stations
- physically localized in 5 languages
- signage makes it hard to get lost
- multiple routing strategies for each trip
- payment complexity abstracted behind a country-wide (!) transit card protocol
- world-class accessibility and access features
A lot of this comes from federal mandates to transit and infra providers. Pretty great outcomes!
