Listening to influencers = overrated Flipping art = overrated Collecting art because it’s trending = overrated Letting market momentum dictate taste = overrated Thinking art needs utility = overrated Supporting emerging artists = underrated Collecting what moves you = underrated Valuing originality over virality = underrated Sitting with discomfort in art = underrated Building a collection with meaning = underrated

In my interview with @cathsimard, she described how creating composites from her travels allows her to process experiences, reflect on personal growth, and express her inner world. "Comfort and routine don’t lead to growth for me; traveling does. The freedom of being outside is powerful, but the growth is just as important. When I review my images and build something from them, it becomes a reflection of that growth." Read the article 🔽

Join me in wishing @artemisandarts a happy birthday! Artemis creates art where code is a medium for expression, where each brushstroke carries meaning, where algorithm holds emotion. And he is also the most wonderful human. Happy birthday, dear friend.

The experience of finding art often feels detached and impersonal. Filters are limited, and focused on things that do not add value (to me). Collecting is personal. We need better ways to search based on mood, color palette, medium, themes, and artist background. The process of discovery should be intuitive and intentional

We often celebrate the freedoms that come with the blockchain. For artists, the ability to share work with a global audience without intermediaries is radical. But in this decentralized world, are artists truly free, or are they simply beholden to new forms of control like social media algorithms, market volatility, and self-serving collectors?
