Are validators in the same cluster (eg same exchange, same user) more likely than unrelated validators to miss attestations at the same time? If so, can we tweak rewards to favor decentralized staking?

Makes sense, but what’s the benefit of even more decentralized staking? Is it something that would be noticeable by an end user?

It’s already decentralized..

My point is why spend time on this particular item? What’s the benefit to end users?

Will cost reduce?
Will safety improve?
Will speed increase?

I’m all about decentralization, but I actually disagree that decentralization is the whole point of crypto. It’s a method being used to attempt to achieve frictionless, irreversible, low cost transacting. If there was a optimal way of doing this through centralization we would be centralization maxis tbh

Maintenance and tech debt need to be managed to avoid an evolving landscape, agreed.

There are clearly big items that still need to be addressed, such as high gas and bridging fees that are opening opportunities for other chains to gain market share. Does this address those items?

centralization is a super slippery slope that you have to always carefully manage :)

This system is super complex, and centralizing forces can appear in really unexpected and emergent ways.

Crypto is valuable _because_ it is decentralized. You can trust it works.

This helps a bit there, increasing safety longterm.
