i grew up surfing, where competence is hyper legible
meaning you would ride a single wave, and the lineup would know exactly what you were about
if you were good, the whole lineup would watch your waves
but online has a lot of larps, bots, and noise, making “good” harder to find
bidding on casts says “i think this is good” to your social graph
to be clear, i’m surfing for myself, and collecting for myself
but when i see @july @freshfresh @patriciaxlee.eth bid, i pay attention
because they have “it” , and they can see “it”
