hi, i see you're using a 3rd party saas for audio handling, and ive seen you say twice now that costs are a concern - i have some experience selfhosting webrtc chat SFU (video and audio) on baremetal, it comes with some tradeoffs but it can save a fuckton of money, feel free to hmu if you ever wanna talk about strategies and options, id be glad to share what little i know!

hell yeah and i read more of your posts, it sounds like you are still in the free tier, i wouldn't proceed with selfhosting until you cross like 1k/mo in costs!

but just so you are aware, and can plan ahead - today id recommend LiveKit.io as the FOSS SOTA GOAT (back when i was building, i worked on the parent library Pion Webrtc, much less featurefull) - it might surprise you how easy some of these new feature ideas could be using this ecosystem!

to be clear i was recommending this as the *selfhost* option, ive never tried their cloud stuff and have no interest in it
