Ring of young stars! This is a beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 1317. Closer to its center, a ring of bright, massive, blue and young stars clearly stands out. They are definitely young, because such massive blue stars do not live long in principle - which means that they appeared relatively recently (up to several million years ago). The bright star with four diffraction rays at the bottom of the galaxy is much closer to us - in our galaxy. And just to the left of this star, a reddish elongated spot is a galaxy located much further than NGC 1317. There are other distant galaxies in the frame.

#Rover wheel tracks on the surface of #Mars. This image was taken on May 13 by one of the #Perseverance rover's navigation cameras as it moved from one study area to another. The frame shows part of the rover and its power source, a radioisotope thermoelectric generator (the large white part in the center).

The strange galaxy NGC 1961 (Arp 184) is 190 million light years away and is located in the #constellation #Camelopardalis. The #galaxy has a distorted shape - the structure of the spiral arms is disrupted. But here's the mystery: usually such changes occur after interaction with another galaxy. However, no other galaxies were found near #NGC1961 that could cause such distortions. If the second galaxy was recently absorbed by NGC 1961, then it would most likely have a double core - the remnant of this galaxy. But it was not possible to detect it either.

Rover tracks on the surface of Mars! The MRO device photographed from orbit the tracks of the rover's wheels and the Curiosity rover itself (the dark dot at the bottom of the frame, where the track ends). The tracks will remain for several more months until the wind erases them.

Strange Rock on Mars! This is a recent image from the #Perseverance #rover. It shows a rock that is noticeably darker than the surrounding landscape and has an angular surface. The pits in the rock could have been formed by erosion or wind blowing. The color of the rock is similar to #meteorites found by the #Curiosity rover in #GaleCrater, but analysis of the composition suggests that it is not a meteorite. The rock could also be of #volcanic origin or could have been ejected during the formation of an impact crater nearby.

You will never see the Moon during the full moon phase like this. When the visible side of our natural satellite is fully illuminated by the Sun, the light falls on the surface at a straight angle, which is why there are no long shadows - the surface of the Moon appears flat, and the relief and craters are poorly visible on it. But during other phases, when the light falls at a different angle and shadows appear, the craters are much more visible. They are especially clearly visible near the terminator - the border between the dark and light sides. This composite image is made up of stripes of areas of the Moon near the terminator, taken from photographs taken at different times. As a result, we get the Moon, which looks almost like during the full phase, but with visible "three-dimensional" relief. The colors are also enhanced in the image. Author: Rich Addis.

The beautiful young star cluster NGC 346 is located in the Small #Magellanic Cloud #galaxy. This new image was taken with the #Hubble Space Telescope and combines data in visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light. The cluster contains more than 2,500 young stars, and is best seen in the bright, massive blue stars in the center of the frame. In addition to the stars, the frame also shows clumps of gas and dust that form a nebula — the remnants of matter in a star-forming region.
